Working with a UK-based specialist investment business that is a wholly owned subsidiary of a large Canadian-based investment management firm listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. They began in its current form in 2014 and manage two long-only strategies, the first investing in global equities, the second in emerging markets. Both strategies share a common philosophy and offer investors a concentrated, research driven approach, focusing on long-term returns.
An opportunity has arisen for a Risk Analyst to join the business in a newly created junior position driven by recent growth. The successful candidate will have a wide-ranging role as part of an experienced team responsible for all aspects of the business which are not directly investment related. Reporting to the Portfolio Risk Manager, the role will focus on quantitative risk analysis and portfolio metrics, as well as assessing how machine learning might enhance systems and analysis.
The Role
- Assist with the design, implementation and integration of portfolio analytics
- Support the data warehousing and risk management processes
- Review portfolio data and assist with RFP queries
- Provide ad hoc support to the client service and investment teams
- Liaise with parent company colleagues on risk reporting
- Assist with streamlining and improving current analytical workflows
The Person
- Confident working with numbers and manipulating data
- Strong statistical knowledge
- Good explanatory skills and ability to generate accurately written materials
- Experience with Python and SQL
- Keen to learn and help to continually improve analyses
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a mathematics or science-related field
- Some machine learning experience a positive
- Strong interpersonal skills, a flexible attitude and willingness to support colleagues as required
- 1-2 years' office work experience
