Graduate Broking Programme (Retail)

Introduction

 

You’ll join our UK Retail team that focuses on developing new customers and driving growth on a face-to-face advisory basis. 

Our UK Retail teams provide Insurance and Risk Management services to over 1m customers.  You’ll join a team with over 60 offices and 3,500 staff in the UK and Ireland.

During our 2 year tailored development programme, we’ll work with you on all aspects of understanding Insurance and Risk, enabling you to fast-track into a Business Development Executive role at the end of the programme.  During your time on the programme, you’ll be fully supported, coached and trained. We’ll also fully fund your path to achieving the CII Professional Qualification.

Our target customer is very broad so you’ll find a lot of variety working with us!  We also have many specialisms from Life Sciences through to Public Sector organisations so, you’ll have the opportunity as your career develops work in one of our many specialist areas.

About the role

From the start of the programme you’ll be working with our teams that are responsible for driving new business.  As part of the Business Development team you’ll be actively engaged in identifying and developing prospects, managing the sales cycle,  attending client and prospect meetings, building relationships, analysing data and working on propositions to provide the best possible insurance and risk advice for potential new customers.

During the programme you’ll spend time with a number of teams to help build your knowledge across a broad spectrum of the aspects of insurance broking. This role is hands-on and working closely with your mentor, you’ll be learning and making a real difference very early in your career.

In your role, you’ll: 

  • Learn how to build and manage a Prospect pipeline
  • Understand and use all marketing routes to generate successful sales meetings with prospects
  • Use our Client relationship Management (CRM) systems and other data systems
  • Meet with prospects to develop relationships to help grow the business
  • Build and present tailored, structured insurance solutions for prospects with the aim of converting them to a new client.
  • Manage your own workload and make sure tasks are completed within set timelines
  • Undertake your Professional Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications

 

 

About you:

As a minimum you’ll be:

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent with Grade A to C (4-9) in English and Maths. 
  • Keen to make a difference and forge a career
  • Able to demonstrate great interpersonal skills
  • A real desire to develop a career in a face to face advisory business development environment
  • Interested and passionate about actively listening, asking questions to gain better understanding and creating solutions
  • Accurate and have an eye for detail
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc…)
  • Eligible to work in the UK  by the start of your employment
