About the role
The engineering team at Drax power station are offering a great opportunity for a talented Graduate Electrical Engineer with an interest in power generation to kick start a rewarding and challenging career in the UK Power industry. The role will provide you with opportunities to train, grow, develop and progress in a direction that suits your own skillset and interests. You will be provided with a tailored training path, enabling you to progress towards your goals and professional registration. You will experience life on an operating power station, understanding the technical, safety, operational & engineering challenges associated with providing power to the nation!
At Drax you will gain experience working on & leading the delivery major technical projects and schemes throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, from initial feasibility to construction and commissioning.  You will also help identify and support the delivery of the Engineering strategy that underpins the long-term commercial operation of the plant, preserve asset life and minimise costs. Accountable for delivering compliance against legislative, statutory, corporate and site policy and procedures.

As well as the above, you will also get involved in:
• Preparation and execution of outline and detailed electrical engineering designs and calculations.
• Producing business cases, technical specifications, drawings and schedules.
• Working closely and collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams
• Preparation of technical documents and reports.
• Risk and Asset management

You will also be responsible for leading and contributing to projects & upgrades associated with the reliability and improvement of station & plant area equipment. You will maintain a level of proficiency in relevant regulations and technical procedures in your area. While doing all this you will be implementing project management best practice and ensure correct engineering standards are applied to your work.
You will also take part in the technical review of the Drax plant and equipment and work closely with external parties, such as technical specialists, contractors and suppliers. 
Based at Drax Power Station near Selby, there’s flexibility to work from home on occasion.
It’s a Monday-Friday role, though at times there may be a requirement to work out of hours to support outage or breakdown activities. We can offer you flexibility in terms of owing you time back on these occasions. After all, we understand the need for a work/life balance.

About You
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, committed and interested in pursuing an exciting and rewarding career in electrical engineering, within the power generation industry. You will possess excellent problem-solving skills, have an ability to communicate, plan and prioritise effectively; and have a keen focus on quality and detail in everything you do.
If you’re interested in the critical electrical assets that help power the UK and you are studying towards or have a degree in Electrical Engineering, this could be the opportunity for you!
Alongside the technical skills, you will need great analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to communicate across all levels. You’ll need to be a champion of safety and ensure that all environmental and housekeeping duties are carried out to a high standard

Experience in using power system analysis software such as Digsilent or equivalent would be an advantage.
