Environmental Market Analyst

cKinetics is looking for an Analyst who is passionate about the Global Environmental Transition, and sees carbon markets, offsets, low-carbon technologies as the solutions to enable the much-needed shift. We want someone who is looking for meaningful and cutting-edge work directly helping to solve the greatest problem our generation faces.
 

The candidate would be part of the California Carbon team, a division of cKinetics, which provides business intelligence and analytics in carbon markets. The person would be involved in curating data and analysing data-sets in the carbon, offsets and clean fuels markets globally, as well as tracking and evaluating the development and deployment paths of low-carbon technologies. 

Position deliverables 

The role envisages the following activities: 

  1. Responsible for collection and maintenance of multiple data-streams from carbon markets, corporates, government agencies, etc. and bringing them into standardised / analysable formats. 
  2. Using the data to research and analyse issues pertaining to carbon markets, this will require familiarity with mathematical models and statistical techniques. 
  3. Developing visualisations and analytics dashboards that generate insights for customers Creating insightful long-form reports, analysis, and commentaries by synthesising data Presenting their research and insight findings to the market through webinars, client calls, and live at market events. 
  4. Engaging with business leaders, scientists and engineers in the US and Canada to track newly emerging technologies, as well as their current and future costs of deployment.

 

About you 

  1. You are the 'quickest of learners'. 
  2. You are self-motivated, and looking to be part of a dynamic, flexible, and distributed working environment.
  3. You have a methodical and critical mindset for collecting and analysing market data.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills to be able to interact and collaborate with teammates from varied cultural backgrounds. 
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and use of standard analytical software such Microsoft excel, Power BI, R, or SPSS, and comfortable writing SQL queries - this all helps. 
  6. Passion to work in carbon market - this goes without saying. 
  7. Experience in low carbon tech, energy markets and/or environmental commodity markets is a big plus, but not at all necessary. 

Salary details: Competitive 

The salary is split, whilst in India you would earn an excellent professional salary for India, whilst in the UK or Europe you would earn a competitive salary for your geography. Your salary in India will give you the purchasing power to afford an brilliant lifestyle there, well beyond the equivalent lifestyle possible for the vast majority of UK graduate positions in the UK. 

We are looking for someone who is not 'after the money' at this early stage in their career, but who is looking to work directly on the greatest problem of our times, all the while gaining experience and exposure that will eventually prove peerless in their lives, professionally and personally. Many of our ex-colleagues have returned to the UK into mid-tier positions at leading organisations, effectively bypassing the company graduate programs. 

Location details:

At the start of the position you may well be working remotely from the UK, or elsewhere. Eventually you would likely move for 6 months - 2 years to Delhi, where our HQ is based. You may be required to travel through California and Canada for market events and conferences. We want people to spend time in our HQ to ramp up quickly and contribute to our company energy, forge relationships that will set them up well for collaboration when they return home.

In Delhi, you would be provided with comfortable and convenient accommodation - serviced, cleaned, and cooked for by a maid. You will also be able to travel and work flexibly around India during your employment, you may well travel with some of your friendly local colleagues, and see their home states through locals' eyes - an invaluable experience.
 

Start date details: Flexible - for the right candidate.

Initially, we prefer people to start part-time work during their course, either during term-time (for masters) or during the holidays. Then when the course concludes you go full-time and look to come to Delhi.
