Design Draftsman/Draftswoman

The Stonemasonry Company Limited specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke natural stonework projects, including natural stone staircases and structural stone buildings.

Based in Ketton, Rutland our unique team of stonemasons and designers combine traditional stonemasonry skills and expert carving, with modern design technology and innovative engineering, to create beautiful post-tensioned stonework, and highly complex architectural projects throughout the UK and overseas.

We are currently looking for a Draftsman/Draftswoman to join our pioneering team on a full time, permanent basis.

For an experienced Draftsman/Draftswoman the role has the potentialto encompass all aspects of the design phase from concept, through manufacturing to final project completion. We welcome applications from anyone who has a minimum of two years industry experience in drafting and design within the construction industry, and is willing to learn and develop their skillset to increase the scope of the role.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Drafting within a construction environment
  • Creating detailed, clear and concise architectural drawings. (Plans, Elevations, Sections details, etc)
  • Interpreting and creating architectural layouts, sections and elevations
  • Large format printing to scale (A3 to A0)
  • Creating and thoroughly checking cutting lists / bill of quantities.
  • Creating manufacturing drawings and templates
  • Visualising 3D geometry and spaces from basic 2D plans and sketches.
  • Excellent communication and team working skills to liaise with the design team and wider groups including clients, technical teams, architects, engineers, masons etc.
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations and construction practises (or the ability to learn quickly)
  • Independent research and problem-solving skills
  • Interpreting and developing structural details
  • Confident Carrying out detailed surveys.
  • Project management or coordinating experience (desirable)
  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload and time efficiently
  • High level of written and spoken English.
  • Creating personal work schedules and targets.
  • Highly organized in keeping up with the most up to date project information.

Highly proficient in:

  • SolidWorks or Rhino/Grasshopper
  • AutoCAD
  • Microsoft office packages word, excel.

Desirable but not essential:

-Sketchup, Revit, Photoshop, inventor, fusion 360, alphacam stone, Pegasuscadcam.

Salary - £26,000 - £40,000 p/a (depending on experience)

Hours - Monday to Friday 08:00 -17:00 with potential for paid overtime at evenings and weekend depending on project demand. Presence in the office daily will be essential.

Salary: £26,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
