Stafford House Study Holidays – Summer Jobs

So, who are we? 

We are Stafford House Study Holidays. Every year, from late June to mid-August, we welcome over 6000 young students (aged 8-17) from different parts of the world to one of our seven centres. Our aim is to provide them with a fun and educational holiday experience, which includes English language classes and engaging activities and excursions. And that's where you come in! 

Where are our locations? We have locations in Bournemouth, Canterbury, Cambridge, Central London, Uxbridge, Northampton, and Oakham (famous for the Michael Owen Red Stars football school) to choose from. 

What contracts do we offer?  You can choose your contract of 2-6 weeks between late-June to mid-August. Please note you must be available within at least 2 weeks in July, as this is our busiest period. 

Is accommodation included? We can often support you with food and accommodation if you’d like to try a residential contract as a teacher or Activity Leader (Student Welfare Officers must be residential). 

Pay: Pay rates for Activity Leaders and Student Welfare Officers is £549.12 per week (£594.88 for senior positions). Our teaching and management pay rates are in review and will be advertised by January 2024.  

What roles do we offer?

Activity Leaders: 

We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic professionals to work as Activity Leaders. You will be supporting our students on a wide range of activities and excursions such as sports, drama, arts, quizzes, discos, fashion shows, and more. You will also lead groups to theme parks, city tours, historical sites, etc. We will provide you with all the necessary materials to make these activities and excursions exciting. 

You must be: Responsible, active, and energetic with great communication skills. You don’t require a particular subject of study but experience of working in a similar capacity with young people is highly desirable. 

We can provide full-board accommodation if preferred, for a small weekly salary deduction (£69.93 per week in line with government guidelines) (We cannot provide accommodation in central London) This is a full-time role, 48 hours per week. 

Pay: £549.12 per week (increased to £594.88 for senior positions) 

 

 

Student Welfare Officers: 

Our team of Student Welfare Officers support our students with all pastoral and well-being needs, rather like a house parent. They are also involved in lights-out duties, mealtime supervision etc.  

You must be: Responsible, caring, and be a great communicator. You don’t require a particular subject of study but experience of working in a similar capacity with young people is highly desirable. This role involves administration, so you must be well organised, and possess a variety of effective admin skills. You must have the capacity to promote the welfare of young people. 

It's compulsory to be residential for this position. Full-board accommodation is provided at no charge. You must be available to attend a training weekend in June 2024. This is a full-time role, 48 hours per week. 

Pay: £549.12 per week (increased to £594.88 for senior positions) 

 

EFL Teachers: 

We welcome experienced and newly qualified teachers. We have small class sizes (around 15-students) and all teaching materials are provided for you. You’ll be supported by an established teaching and management team with CPD, observations and appraisals. 

You must be: Qualified to teach with a CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent/higher or PGCE in Primary, English, or Modern Foreign Languages. (Please contact us for queries about other acceptable qualifications) 

You have the option to be residential in our centres, except in London and Canterbury. If you choose to be residential it’s full-time, 42 hours per week which includes teaching + activities/leading excursions etc. If non-residential, contracts can be 16-32 hours per week. 

Pay: TBC in January 2024 

 

Management:

Important Information: 

You must already have the right to work in the UK. We cannot sponsor you, sorry. 

Activity Leaders, Student Welfare Officers and Management are all full-time roles and we cannot offer part-time. (Applicants on an International Student visa are welcome, however you must check your term dates/visa conditions to ensure you are able to work full time) 

 

Teaching roles can be part-time or full-time. 

You don’t need specific experience a particular subject of study to be successful, unless you are a teacher (please see above)
