Natural Capital Support Officer

Being able to describe nature in terms of its role in sustaining economic and social well-being provides a powerful tool for protecting our natural environment. The natural capital approach does this and when embedded in decision-making frameworks, it is driving investment in nature-based solutions.
This exciting opportunity will focus on supporting the Natural Capital Team to shape and deliver a natural capital approach in the Environment Agency through providing project, technical, communication and administrative support.
As a dynamic, collaborative, and organised team player you will provide:
• Project support and secretariat duties – procurement management, budget management, contract management, use of project management controls, aspects of review and quality assurance, meeting management, technical minute writing.
• Partner and customer support – supporting and engaging with our partners and customers; organising and contributing to workshops/meetings.
• Communication support - collating information, graphics, writing speaker notes.
• Team administration - organising team meetings, leading or supporting on topics that we work together on as a team, including Health, Safety and Wellbeing and Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity.
You’ll have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan, so we’ll support you to find an incident role to suit your needs and circumstances. Appropriate training will be given.

The team

You’ll join the Natural Capital Team, in the Chief Scientist’s Group, which co-ordinates and leads the Environment Agency's work on natural capital. We develop and embed natural capital evidence and tools into operational delivery and build staff capability to take a natural capital approach.

Experience/skills required

We are looking for a team player with a collaborative approach and who has the curiosity to learn. In your capability-based answers please demonstrate your:
• strong organisational, planning and project support skills
• excellent written and oral communication skills
• experience of managing and analysing data
• ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver to tight timescales
• good diplomacy and influencing skills.
• ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues
• desire to learn about the natural capital approach and it’s application
You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided. The Natural Capital team is friendly, collaborative and supportive.
