Graduate Structural Engineer
Details of the role
- Assisting the engineering team, carrying out structural calculations, analysis and modelling.
- Attending site, design team meetings, internal meetings etc. with the support of a Project Engineer or a Director as required. Choosing structures and details that are economical and practical. Also, finding structural engineering solutions as and when they arise.
- A chance to develop scheme design skills on smaller projects.
- Learning the practice of structural engineering, codes of practice, software, materials and construction techniques as well as all the other disciplines and people that are needed to design and deliver a project successfully.
- Learning the importance of basic hand calculations alongside neat and organised calculations/ drawings.
- Learning how to produce structural drawings and contract documents.
Skills required
- Having achieved a 1st or 2:1 (or working towards) in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- An interest in buildings and structures.
- Team player.
- Good communication.
- Problem solving.
- Tidy presentation.
- A strong work ethic.
- Ambition to progress and work towards Chartership.
