Sustainability Coordinator

Purpose

  • Chelsom are committed to an aggressive plan to achieve Net Zero Carbon status, working in partnership with Planet Mark.
  • Although Chelsom has an Environmental Committee in place, the demands on the business mean that a full-time role is being created to lead Chelsom’s efforts in becoming a more sustainable business.
  • Led by the Managing Director, there is a shared enthusiasm across the business to constantly drive change at Chelsom so that it can become a market leader in all aspects of environmental management.
  • Chelsom wish to implement a carbon base line framework as well as investigate environmental compliance across the business. There is a considerable amount of data gathering and management required across the business to satisfy all of the activities linked to environmental improvements.
  • Chelsom are committed to maintaining compliance with our extended producer responsibility (EPR) obligations linked to packaging and waste streams which comes into effect in 2024.
  • The majority of Chelsom’s blue chip customers require regular audits and detailed information surrounding all aspects of Sustainability and this demands constant management and updating.
  • The Chelsom Board wants to create a fully proactive approach to Sustainability so that the business is forever moving forward in this challenging field.
  • This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful applicant where they will be exposed to exciting discussions with the top level management of our business as we as with key blue-chip clients worldwide.

Duties and Tasks

Primary Responsibilities

  • Management of all carbon exposure of the business and reporting on the same.
  • Lead discussions within the Environmental Committee which meets once a month.
  • Liaise with all management within the business to assess where efficiencies can be driven in all aspects of Environmental Management.
  • Drive environmental best practice.
  • Manage energy and the use of non- renewable fuel sources.
  • Introduce and manage environmental projects and initiatives.
  • Prepare reports for the senior management team.
  • Support the business development team in all environmental bids and tenders.
  • Co-ordinate any interfaces with the competent authorities in Environmental matters
  • Undertake environmental audits and inspections.
  • Work directly with the Environmental Committee and Managing Director
  • Work with Sales team and engage with our customers in hospitality and cruise, i.e., Marriott, Hilton, Accor, IHG, Carnival Cruises and Disney Cruise Lines.
  • Align future strategic objectives of the business to our key corporate clients.

Personal Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, carbon management and some creative thoughts / ideas on emission reduction.
  • Schooling or Higher Education qualifications within Environmental Management or the topic of Sustainability is preferred.
  • Competent in IT – All Microsoft packages
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Confident decision maker
  • Prepared to go the extra mile and working on positive outcomes for all parties.
  • Positive attitude to want to succeed for both you and the business.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and be reactive to the business needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £25,000.00 per year
