Our Clients: Our clients are housing and property managers that operate heat networks, with a focus on networks that serve social housing with end customers on low incomes and in underserved communities. This includes, but is not exclusive to, Housing Associations, Local Authorities and Managing Agents.

Our sister business

Chirpy Heat has a sister business, Uniti Heat.  Where Chirpy Heat focusses on existing heat networks, Uniti Heat looks to support the housing sector with their newbuild schemes. Your role will include delivering projects for Uniti Heat, although you will be a Chirpy Heat employee.

The Role

The Graduate Technical Consultant will be an important member of the Technical Team, supporting the delivery of technical services including heat network optimisation projects, decarbonisation studies, asset reviews, acceptance testing, meter feasibility site visits as well as other technical services to be developed in line with incoming heat network regulation. 

The role will require national travel, including overnight stays to undertake heat network site visits. These would be discussed beforehand to ensure they suit your personal circumstances. 

While this is a full-time role, we also welcome applications from people looking for part-time, compressed or flexible hours, with a minimum contract of 4 days / 30 hours per week. 

All our staff work at least some of the time at home.  We have an office in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, however many of our team are located across the UK and work remotely.

Duties & Responsibilities

Site visits

  • Support site surveys using our systematic checklists and in line with recognised standards such as CIBSE CP1, across new build and existing heat networks, and the connection of buildings to larger district heating schemes.  This will include:
    • Optimisation surveys
    • Meter feasibility surveys
    • Decarbonisation surveys
    • Asset reviews
    • Acceptance testing
  • Liaise with onsite client and contractor staff
  • Engage with end-customers where needed, including surveying their homes.
  • Ensure the health and safety rules are followed at all times.

Report writing

  • Support our techno-economic analysis and report writing for clients.
  • Data gathering, input and analysis
  • Liaise with product manufacturers and other supply chain stakeholders.

Client liaison 

  • Help to maintain effective working relationships with clients, including attending online and in-person meetings, helping to produce reports and identifying opportunities to exceed client requirements.

Team working 

  • Collaborate with the Data and Consultancy teams to identify opportunities for service improvement, adding client added value and improving Chirpy Heat’s offering.
  • Support business development by identifying potential new clients/ contacts and partnership opportunities
  • Liaise with external partners to raise awareness of the work of Chirpy Heat
  • Attend networking events to represent Chirpy Heat and our clients.
  • Contribute to proposals for technical services.
  • Contribute to our website, blog and social media content, including case studies.

Essential Criteria for Role

Qualifications

  • Degree level education or equivalent professional experience

Experience/ Knowledge

  • Experience of managing and delivering your own projects.
  • Experience of working in a varied and changing environment, and demonstrating initiative and self-direction
  • Ability to identify opportunities for new projects and to develop optimum project teams
  • Clear writing and analysis skills
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, especially Outlook, Word and Excel
