Teacher Training – Ark Schools 

Locations: London, Birmingham, Hastings, Portsmouth (full list of Ark Schools here

Salaries from: £21,106 - £26,471 (based on region) 

Bursaries and scholarships from: £10,000 – £30,000 (applies to eligible trainees in certain subjects starting September 2024)  

Closing date: Rolling recruitment process until training places are full, early applications are strongly advised

About the roles: 

You will be training as a secondary school teacher in the subject of your choice - this is a great opportunity to train to teach outstanding lessons and help your students achieve excellent academic results, giving them real life chances in their futures. 

We currently have teacher training spaces remaining in the following subjects across our 4 regions: 

  • Science – choose Physics, Chemistry, or Biology 
  • Mathematics 
  • Computing (Computer Science)
  • French and/or Spanish 
  • Geography 
  • Business Studies

About Ark Teacher Training: 

Ark Teacher Training (ATT) is a school-based programme offering the perfect mixture of theory and classroom practice to develop you into the best teacher you can be. Our training is comprehensive and practical, is rated as outstanding in all categories by Ofsted and is incredibly supportive and bespoke, meaning you can progress at your own pace. 

By training with us, you will be able to achieve your QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) all in one year.

How to Apply:  

Applications can be made directly through our website here. If you’re applying through the DfE, please select Ark Teacher Training (code 1CS) as one of your chosen providers. 

Key requirements

  • Grade C/4 or above in Maths GCSE and English GCSE (or equivalent)  
  • Primary trainees must also hold Science GCSE grade C/4 or better (or equivalent) 
  • Hold an undergraduate bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) prior to beginning your teacher training (i.e. you will hold your degree by 31 July 2024 latest)  
  • Degree and/or A level in the subject you want to teach (or a closely related subject) 
  • Evidence of a commitment to working with young people 
  • Experience of overcoming challenges successfully  
  • Ability to demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct 
  • Right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the training year (August 2024 through August 2025 minimum)
