Our role within Asset Management is to facilitate the efficient development of the network. Key activities we undertake include:
Sponsoring projects delivered by our Capital Programme, Network Operations and our partner organisations. Each year we invest more than £200 million pounds in this way.
Assessing new connections (circa 7,000 a year), identifying the most economical point of connection and modelling the impact of the connection on the network.
Ensuring compliance with our statutory and regulatory duties. This ensures the network is operated safely and our customers receive a reliable supply of electricity.
Engaging stakeholders to ensure our plans meet their needs and that the needs of the network are met in the long term.
What is the role?
Network Operations is the beating heart of UK Power Networks. The largest directorate in the business is responsible for working directly on the electricity network. Keeping the lights on for over 19 million people.
You will support the team to ensure all project related works are managed to the highest standard while ensuring all relevant health and safety policies are followed. Particular focus will be placed around putting people to work and ensuring all work is completed as safely and efficiently as possible.
The role includes liaison with Asset Management, Capital Programme, Delivery Contractors, and Operational teams, which is a great opportunity to develop your internal network and understanding of the wider business.
Successful applicants will work towards becoming authorised to operate on the distribution network, as an AP or SAP. They will also be responsible for managing a portfolio of projects from inception to completion, while ensuring that all work is undertaken in a safe manner.
The Team and Role
The Distribution Capital Delivery (DCD) team is responsible for the efficient delivery of the RIIO-ED2 settlement through our Asset Portfolio Plan for all UK Power Networks license areas.
As part of this team, the Graduate Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the Eastern Region deliver a number of projects, spread across different areas.
The value of the portfolio will vary depending on the content but will be in the order of £2m - £10m per annum with a large number of low/medium value projects plus also a few large value schemes circa £300k. The portfolio will include the management and assurance of contractors who are delivering the work on behalf of UK Power Networks.

Who is best suited to this role?
You will have achieved or be on target to achieve a minimum of an Honours bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
Full driving licence – this role will require you to drive to sites across the Eastern area
