Flow Chemist

AM Technology is a Cheshire-based company specialising in flow chemistry. Our Coflore systems cover R&D up to multi-tonne production and we are at the forefront of the global push towards continuous manufacturing as the chemical and pharmaceutical industries look to achieve net zero targets. 

As part of our continued expansion, the company is looking to recruit a flow chemist to join the process development team. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated and ambitious individual looking for first-hand, diverse experience in a disruptive and rapidly growing field.


Job Description
The full-time position will be based at our laboratories in Runcorn, Cheshire, combining office-based research with laboratory experiments and analytical testing. A significant focus will be leading client feasibility and development studies involving a wide range of reaction types, operating at the interface of chemistry and chemical engineering. Recent examples have included biocatalytic processes, Grignard reactions, nanoparticle coatings and counter-current extractions, with applications ranging across the chemical industry.

Essential Skills and Experience
General requirements for the position are as follows:

  • Proficiency in good laboratory practice
  • Knowledge of a wide range of chemical syntheses and methodology for optimising reactions
  • Excellent written, communication and presentation skills
  • Thorough and systematic approach to work
  • Enthusiasm for process chemistry and hands-on involvement in equipment design, setup and operation

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience in flow chemistry
  • Knowledge of LC-MS and GC-MS operation and method development
  • Master’s with experience preferred but candidates with a BSc will be considered

Remuneration

  • £27,000 - £30,000 p.a. dependent on experience
  • 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays)
