Recruitment Consultant – Executive Search (Birmingham based with hybrid working)

Recruitment Consultant – Executive Search (Birmingham based with hybrid working). £35,000 - £40,000 OTE

About Us:

Sphere Group is a highly regarded Search and Selection business that operates in a number of specialist practices including Board and Executive Appointments, Accounting and Finance, and Investment Management and Consultancy firms. We have an established graduate training program and are looking to recruit people nationally based out of one of our three training centres in Birmingham, Manchester or London.

We like to think we are a bit different to many of our competitors. For starters, we don’t rely on advertising as a means to filling jobs. Instead, we favour a much more pro-active approach where we employ unique methodologies centred around data to identify, track and build relationships with the highest calibre candidates in the market. We find this search approach gets much more consistent results and that’s why, despite our relatively small size, we are often regarded as a recruiter of choice to many FTSE listed, PE backed and leading privately owned companies across the UK who want first access to the best talent available in the marketplace.

Furthermore, we strive to promote a down to earth, challenging and inclusive environment where hard work and success gets rewarded, but where people are also given the support to develop at their own pace and the freedom to work in an entrepreneurial environment. We are an ambitious group of consultants, who take pride in our service and are driven by our core values of energy, integrity and delivering excellence.

To accelerate your progression, you will focus on a specialist market from day one. This ensures you are immediately accumulating the relevant knowledge, skills and experience to be successful. You will work closely with a Director who will tailor your training and take personal responsibility for your development. It normally takes two years to develop into a credible stand-alone search consultant. The first six months will consist mainly of research and candidate sourcing for ongoing assignments. After this you will be able to manage more junior assignments yourself and after two years you will start developing your own client portfolio.

Expect to get involved in the following activities:

  • Research and optimise data management of candidates, contacts and companies
  • Identify, target and build relationships with the best candidates in the marketplace
  • Liaise with candidates and clients by phone and in person
  • Originate career enhancing opportunities using your business development skills
  • Match top talent to the right jobs and manage the recruitment process effectively including the interview process and offer stages

Expect to master the following skills:

  • Negotiation
  • Persuasion
  • Teamwork
  • Consulting
  • Presenting

Candidate Attributes:

Prior recruitment experience is not required. We are looking for ambitious individuals with self-confidence who know they have the drive and personality to be successful. A strong work ethic and a high level of self-motivation are essential ingredients that when combined with our training will enable you to succeed.
