Learning Support Assistant

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
£13 per hour, paid weekly

Watford, Hertfordshire

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA). Working with Randstad as an LSA will allow you to craft your skill working with young individuals and support them in their education joruney as they progress through primary school. If you are interested in working with children as they complete academic interventions, learn new skills and understand how to regulate their emotions and behaviour, this could be the perfect role for you!

Job Responsibilities in your LSA role:

  • Work closely with classroom teachers to provide support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in mainstream classrooms
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour plans for some students
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to reinforce learning concepts
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes the social, emotional, and academic development of all students
  • Collaborate with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other members of the school staff to ensure the individual needs of students are met effectively
  • Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources tailored to the specific needs of students with SEN
  • Support students during transitions between activities and help them develop independent learning skills
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, as required

Requirements of your LSA role:

  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and strategies to support students with diverse learning needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children to help them reach their full potential
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school environment
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
