Research Scientist

About the role:

We are seeking a Research Scientist to join our Natural Product Chemistry team. You will play a crucial role in advancing our research projects, focusing on the development of botanical pharmaceuticals and the optimisation of extraction, purification, and formulation techniques. 

The sort of things you will be doing:

You will be conducting individual and collaborative research projects. This includes, designing and undertaking experiments, maintaining meticulous research notes, and entry and analysing of the resulting data to meet project milestones.

  • Designing and conducting experiments to support the development of novel botanical drug formulations for pre-clinical and clinical trials.
  • Designing and executing stability studies for botanical formulations, ensuring long-term product viability.
  • Optimising extraction, purification, and characterisation methods for botanical materials, ensuring high-quality and consistent results.
  • Developing and validating analytical methods for the characterisation and standardisation of botanical extracts.
  • Analysing and interpreting experimental data, maintaining meticulous records, and presenting findings to the research team.
  • Contributing to the development of intellectual property around extraction, purification, and formulation techniques.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met and align with company objectives.
  • Preparing regulatory documents, such as INDs and NDAs, for botanical drug products in collaboration with the regulatory affairs team.
  • Assisting in the preparation of grant applications, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
     

This role will be a great fit if:

You have experience in a fast-paced, commercially focused and hands-on scientific research role.

You will hold a degree in chemistry or a related subject, either MSc, or BSc with relevant additional research experience. You will be highly skilled in chemical extractions of natural products with knowledge and experience of patent development as well as purification, surface chemistry, and chromatography techniques.

  • You are comfortable working effectively in a small, high velocity team.
  • You can demonstrate an innovation mindset to drive science and technology development.
  • You like to take ownership, work at pace, and get things done.
  • You are comfortable managing multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of deliverables and effective coordination with other departments.
  • You enjoy mentoring and guiding junior members of the research team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • You are confident in building and maintaining great relationships with both internal and external partners.
