Innovation Analyst

OxFirst (see for recruitment details: https://oxfirst.com/careers/) was founded over twelve years ago by academics of the University of Oxford and the aim of our think tank is to provide economic assessments to law firms, high-technology firms, public policy makers and international organizations. Our focus is the interplay of technology, intellectual property law and competition economics. Our studies, research and reports have served as baseline of key decisions on technology and innovation strategy in the World Bank, UNDP, the UK Government, but also in firms like Intel or Google. In addition, we run very successfully thought leadership programs and proud ourselves of well attended conferences in the IP and Competition space. 

This job will be online, hybrid or in our London office, depending on mutual agreement.

The type of innovation analysts we are looking for have strong qualitative skills  and strong interest in assessing legal scenarios. In addition, you are a creative thinker and eager to make a difference to the world of innovation and enjoy lateral thinking. Finding pleasure in undertaking research and good writing capabilities are very desirable. We would find it a real help if you had some knowledge of intellectual property/competition law and economics.

  • Strong interest in research, intellectual property, competition economics, law and economics, media & communications, international politics
  • Produce high quality research, with a view to provide transformative insights. 
  • Use creative problem-solving skills; prepare qualitative studies.
  • Research, evaluate, and analyse innovation related data by computer using software applications. 

 

Skills Required:

  • Self-starter, able to work independently.
  • Positive ‘Can do’ attitude
  • Analytical thinking, problem solving skills and ability to apply those skills in constructing models, collecting data to populate the models and produce model results.
  • Interest in intellectual property/competition law/economics

 

Ability to:

  • Write original material, edit, proofread and finalize written material
  • Gather and report data and produce reports.
  • Work completely and accurately under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Report results of analysis in writing

 

Education:

  • Educated to B.A. M.A. or D.Phil. level 
  • International Politics, Politics, Economics, STEM subjects 
  • Exceptional academic and extra-curricular track record
