You will:

  • Produce electrical designs for our clients that meet the relevant standards and align with good engineering practice, with the support from your experienced team members.

  • Carry out both concept/front-end and detailed design work with a focus on value-engineering, energy and carbon savings and innovative solutions. For example, this can include major plant specification, cable calculations, power systems studies and several other tasks across the industry.

  • Assist in the bidding and tendering process that we use to win new projects and attract new clients.

  • Contribute to business-wide and team-wide annual targets.

Qualifications:

You will have:

  • Achieved or working towards a BEng, MEng, or MSc level degree in a relevant engineering subject such as power systems or electrical engineering.

  • Basic knowledge of power distribution and electrification systems with an interest in design of electrical infrastructure such as high voltage substations and electrical networks.

  • An understanding of the UK's power landscape from generation down to the customer with a specific focus on power distribution at LV to 132kV.

  • An interest in working towards achieving professional accreditation such as EngTech, IEng or CEng. Engineering graduates will receive a fully paid for membership of the Institute of Engineers and Technology (IET).

  • An interest in innovative solutions in the electrical industry such as digital automation, SCADA systems and distributed generation and renewables.

  • Basic awareness of project management and CDM Regulations.

You will not know everything, but will need to take responsibility, demonstrate curiosity, and have a drive to deliver high-quality work. You will need to be an effective communicator with people of all different levels and comfortable working in a collaborative manner.
