Graduate Ecologist

Due to continued growth and expansion in the region we are looking for graduate ecologists to join our team in Sheffield to assist with site work, surveys and associated analysis and report writing.

The role 
You will be involved with assisting on ecological desk studies, field surveys and protected species mitigation for a variety of proposed development projects on within the region, and potentially UK-wide. There will be strong emphasis on learning and development, including participation in SLR’s graduate training programme. As skills are developed there will be an opportunity to take on more responsibilities and to progress your career in ecological consultancy.

Whatever your existing skill-set, you will be dedicated to a career as a professional ecologist and show a commitment to continuing professional development. The successful candidate would be joining a highly successful, international multidisciplinary consultancy with an established and well-respected ecological presence in the UK.  On joining the team, you would work with your managers to develop a tailored training package using both in-house and external training resources to drive the development of your career as a professional ecologist.
 
About you 

Essential:
A passion for ecology and understanding of the importance of maintaining high professional standards of work in the sector.
BSc Ecology, Biological Science or equivalent (MSc desirable), and eligible for Qualifying level CIEEM membership.
UK Driving licence, and a willingness to travel and spend time away from home at project sites.
A good theoretical grounding in ecology and environmental assessment, and the principles of scientific data collection.
Excellent communication, time management and report-writing skills; high standard of written English; able to interact productivity and positively with clients, outside consultants and other SLR team members; willing and able to assist colleagues.
IT and PC skills, including basic MS365 packages, and ability to quickly learn new software for recording data, reporting, project/time management and resourcing software.
Positive attitude and versatility – use of initiative and willingness to learn, self-motivated and well organised; can do/will do approach to project deadlines and challenges.
