Head of Engineering

Position Overview: 

As the Head of Engineering at Cambridge Heartwear, you will play a pivotal role in leading our engineering team to new heights of innovation and excellence. Working with our founder and chairman, Professor Rameen Shakur, you will oversee all engineering activities, including manufacturing, product development, research, and technical strategy. With your extensive experience in engineering, particularly Electrical and Manufacturing engineering, you will drive the continued success of our existing products while spearheading the development of new, groundbreaking solutions. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

▪ Lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

 ▪ Manage manufacturing hubs in both the UK and the US. 

▪ Provide strategic guidance and technical expertise in the development and optimisation of current and future products. 

▪ Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, clinical research, regulatory affairs, and manufacturing, to ensure the successful execution of engineering projects. 

▪ Drive the development of embedded software, electronics, and PCB design, ensuring the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance. 

▪ Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements, integrating new advancements into our product development processes. 

▪ Function as a subject matter expert in areas such as ECG technology, medical device regulations, and engineering best practices. 

 

Qualifications and Requirements: 

▪ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred. 

▪ Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in engineering and manufacturing roles. 

▪ Proven track record of success in the design, development, and commercialisation of products, preferably in the medical device space. 

▪ Hardware and software integration experience. 

▪ Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, such as FDA regulations and MHRA regulations, would be advantageous but not a requirement. 

▪ Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members, foster a culture of collaboration, and drive results. 

▪ Creative problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated aptitude for innovative thinking and out-of-the-box solutions. 

▪ Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends. 

▪ Knowledge and experience with ECGs are preferred.
