Campus Services Assistant

Post title: Campus Services Assistant 

SBU/Department: Department of Estates / Campus Services

FTE: 1.0 FTE (working 37 hours per week)

Duration of contract: Permanent

Salary: UH3 (Upper) £23,144pa with potential to progress to £23,700 by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience.

Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane campus, Hatfield

This is a new role following a restructure and we are looking for two new Campus Services Assistants to work primarily within the Portering and Event Management Teams.

The successful candidate must be customer service focused and proactive individual to work within the Campus Services Team.  The individual should be flexible with a keen willingness to learn and develop across the Facilities Team.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Campus Services Assistant will be working in the team which completes a range of Facilities Tasks. The tasks can include:

  • Portering: To be involved in manual handling activities across the University, these can include office moves, classrooms resets, or the moving of equipment.
  • Post and Goods: To support with the delivering of post and goods across the University.
  • Signage: To support with the delivery of the temporary and reactive signage
  • Audits: To complete a range of audits requested by the Facilities Team such as building audits, or utilisation audits.
  • Events: The role involves supporting with a range of university events from setting up, event support, and clear down.
  • Space Management: The role involves supporting on large removal projects and space management tasks.

Skills and experience required.

The successful candidate must have an excellent customer service manner. They will have the ability to follow a scheduled work pattern but take a proactive approach to tasks. The role involves working in a team, but the individual should be comfortable working on their own.

You should have the skill to complete the manual handling tasks, and high attention to detail for the auditing part of the role. The successful individual will have a can-do attitude and should be able demonstrate a willingness to support across a range of tasks and activities.

A driving licence is an essential requirement for this job.

Qualifications

A minimum of GCSEs, grade C/grade 4 or above in Maths and English, equivalent vocational training, or relevant work experience.
