Cover Manager / Supervisor

National Joint Council Pay Scale Points 12 - 18 (dependant on experience) Actual salary for term time only £22,598 - £25,033

Full time - 37.5 hours per week, term time only plus 5 days

Start date: As soon as possible

We are looking to appoint a Cover Manager / Supervisor to join our team and make an immediate impact. You will work both strategically and operationally to ensure the efficient and smooth running of our school cover requirements. Working in conjunction with the Vice Principal to ensure the effectiveness of the cover arrangements. The position would suit an applicant who has experience of being a cover supervisor and overseeing the management of cover in schools. We are looking for a proactive, forward thinker with strong planning and organisation skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and organising the daily cover rota for ongoing lessons for absent staff and contacting teaching supply agencies to arrange supply cover when necessary for lessons. In periods where cover is not required you will support the school as directed.You will ensure that everyone undertaking cover, including agency staff, are sufficiently informed to do so effectively, providing induction information to supply staff.

As a Cover Supervisor in class, you will be responsible for supervising students during short term teacher absence and assist in preparing the learning environment and the materials required. You will cover lessons of any subject using the cover work set by the department, set high expectations to motivate and challenge students whilst managing behaviour effectively using school policies and promoting a positive learning environment.

You will take a leadrole within the school’s support team, with an ability to work proactively with key staff, adopting the highest standard of customer care.The position will allow the right applicant the opportunity to utilise their education, skills and experience to support our school as we look to strengthen our central support team. The postholder will manage their own workload and respond to the many requests of a busy team.

  • Educated to GCSE A* - C (4 - 9) in Maths and English
