Procurement Graduate Consultant
Barkers is an award-winning procurement consultancy delivering a range of outstanding procurement solutions and expertise across a wide range of industry sectors with organisations typically from the FTSE 250. Our consultancy is rapidly expanding and we are looking to recruit a graduate to join our successful team and work alongside our senior consultants in delivering first class procurement solutions. The role will give the ideal candidate the opportunity to learn not only about procurement & supply chain across a number of different categories, but also provide you with the skills and tools to be a successful consultant with full support on your journey to MCIPS qualification.
About the Opportunity
In your role as a consultant, you will be involved in the end-to-end client journey from specification and proposal development, through delivery, recommendation and implementation. The role will be varied from day to day involving activities such as:
- Hosting client meetings
- Creation of client proposals
- Data analysis and recommendation development
- Governance and reporting
- Risk understanding, management & mitigation
- Project management
- RFP development and management
- Supplier negotiations
- End to end contract process
- Supplier management
- Delivery of training and associated workshops
Job requirements
About You
We are looking for a commercially minded graduate with an understanding of procurement and supply chain gained either through degree studies or work experience. Our ideal team member will:
- Hold a business-related degree with ideally a procurement & supply chain focus
- Have a sound understanding of key procurement concepts including Category Management, ERP, the Procurement Life Cycle, Legal Concepts, Market Analysis and Data Management
- Have a commercial mindset with the ability to ‘think big’ as well as focus on the detail
- Have excellent people skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal enabling effective negotiation and influencing
- Numerate with the ability to assess and manipulate data
- Ability to work on your own initiative and collaboratively as part of a small team
- An inquisitive thinker, prepared to ask questions and remain curious
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and respond well under pressure
- Creative approach to problem solving
- Eager to learn and expand your knowledge and experience
