Staff Nurse School Age Immunisation Service

An opportunity for motivated Nurses to join our established School Aged Immunisation Service (SAIS) delivering the School Age Flu vaccination programme in schools and community clinics in Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent from September - December 2024. 

The successful candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm, energy and a passion for delivering the best care possible and have knowledge of the childhood immunisation schedule particularly in relation to the flu vaccinations.   The job role requires good time management, leadership and IT skills and you will be expected to work on your own initiative as well as within a team.

You will promote vaccination and where appropriate, the health of children aged 0-19 within the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent areas through the public health agenda, thus enabling each child to reach his/her development, and educational potential.

We are looking for applicants who can work the core hours of 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday but with flexibility to be able to work the occasional evenings and weekends. However, we will consider applications from nurses who can offer hours of 9-3pm where this meets the needs of the service.

 

Main duties of the job

  • Be competent as appropriate to the requirement of the role.
  • Demonstrate at all times the Values of Midlands Partnership Foundation Partnership Trust.
  • Be a registered nurse within the School Age Immunisation Team and have a professional and clinical knowledge of their discipline.
  • They will be responsible for a defined population of service users in a variety of settings across the Trust including the community and hospitals.
  • Be skilled in the assessment of care and support needs and in the development, implementation and evaluation of care and support packages including all aspects related to vaccination.
  • Have supervisory responsibilities as required (e.g. work allocation) and may have some responsibility for service developments.
  • To deliver delegated aspects of commissioned vaccination programmes and their service specifications, ensuring key objectives and outcomes are achieved.
  • The ability to use and undertake training regarding electronic based IT platforms including electronic patient records, including Rio and in the future the E- Red Book, Patient Knows Best.
  • The post may at times require working between several health clinics, schools, alternative educational providers and in the home; in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent area as per needs of the service
