Rotating Equipment Repair Workshop Engineer

Overview & Responsibilities

An excellent opportunity has become available to join Ebara Elliott Energy in the UK as a Rotating Equipment Shop Engineer. The successful candidate will set methods and criteria for execution of customer repair work for various types of rotating equipment (Steam Turbines, Centrifugal Compressors, Axial Compressors and other associated equipment).

Repair work will include overhauls; general maintenance upgrades and rerates for OEM and non OEM equipment. The Shop Engineer will engineer repair solutions and ensure the technical integrity of all work performed in the Repair Shop.

 

As a Shop Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:  

  • Supporting Sales engineers during quotation phase for aftermarket services
  • Responsibility for the full repair lifecycle from receipt of equipment to return to customer
  • Scope definition based on as-received condition and customer requirements
  • Generating and issuing work instructions for scope execution
  • Providing technical assistance to workshop technicians throughout the repair
  • Ensuring quality requirements are achieved
  • Signing-off all work undertaken in the workshop and by subvendors
  • Writing and issuing inspection and final job reports
  • Respecting costs and maintaining repair project margins
  • Raising requisitions for subcontract activities
  • Providing technical assistance to customers – both internal and external
  • Review, approval and control of technical documentation

 

As a Shop Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include: 

  • Recognised degree or HND in Mechanical engineering required (ideally with relevant experience in rotating equipment)
  • Proven experience in rotating equipment repair or a manufacturing environment
  • Industry experience is preferred but not essential
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Good understanding of Mechanical engineering practices.
  • Professional and effective communication skills, both written and verbal in English.
  • Must be confident to support and guide technicians and liaise with internal and external customers.
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of software packages such as excel, word & PowerPoint and the ability to learn Elliott’s business software packages
  • The ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings, service bulletins, service reports and technical reports.
