Post Title: Nursery Nurse 

SBU/Department: University Day Nursery, Dean of Students

 

FTE: 1.0 FTE (working 37 hours per week)

Duration of Contract: Permanent

Salary: UH3 £22,681pa with potential to progress to £23,700pa on achieving designated skills and experience

Annual Leave 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane, Hatfield, University of Hertfordshire

 

The University Day Nursery offers childcare to children aged between 3 months to 5 years.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

The University Day Nursery offers childcare to children aged between 3 months to 5 years and you will be responsible for providing a safe and caring environment for the children in the Nursery’s care. You will also be responsible for promoting the children’s development through a range of activities and experiences and communicate in a positive and effective manner with all parents regarding their children. 

 

You will care for the children attending the Nursery on a day-to-day basis, in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage and within Nursery planned activities and policies and to ensure that the physical and educational needs of each child are understood and catered for. You will immediately report any accidents, safety hazards or observations of children being unwell to the Room Leader/Nursery Officer or senior Nursery team, and you will assist with the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities for children. 

 

Skills and experience required

It is essential that you have proven relevant childcare experience in a similar Day Nursery setting, as well as experience of planning learning activities for children and experience of keeping child observations, as a key worker. 

 

You will have excellent time management skills, the ability to ability to work effectively within a team and show effective communication skills with staff team, children and their parents. Additionally, you will have a good knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

 

Qualifications required 

You will hold a minimum of a recognised Level 2 childcare qualification such Early Years Educator, NNEB, DPP, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification. You will be educated with GCSEs at Grade C / 4 or above in Maths and English, or proven related experience, or equivalent qualification.
