Graduate Building Surveyor

We require an enthusiastic but technical applicant to join a busy expanding Chartered Building Surveyor’s Practice in South Dorset.  This is a challenging role requiring the person to be diligent with the tasks they are required to undertake.  The successful candidate will be expected to always conduct themselves in accordance with the RICS professional and ethical standards. 

Responsibilities

  • To represent the practice as a graduate building surveyor and always promote its best interests
  • To carry out and assist with day-to-day duties including:
    1. To undertake measured surveys and production of drawings
    2. To carry out building surveys
    3. To prepare and submit applications for consent to the Local Authority planning and building control department
    4. To assist with Party Wall awards
    5. To carry out contract administration
    6. Principle designer role under the CDM Regulations 
  • To take instruction and guidance from all qualified members of the Building Surveying team, and senior colleagues.
  • To assist with the development and maintenance of the client base specifically in all building surveying matters
  • To diligently deal with all instructions and maintain comprehensive records for work undertaken

Candidate Requirements

  • A degree in Building Surveying
  • An excellent or working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • To have a good methodical and logical approach to determine building defects 
  • Strong knowledge of building construction, property laws and regulations
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Effective communication and client facing skills
  • Be a good team worker
  • Good attention to detail
  • UK Driving Licence

Must be inspired in becoming a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or preferably enrolled on the APC
