Graduate Engineer: Instrumentation & Controls – Ref 10364

We have an exciting opportunity within our Facilities Engineering Department for a Graduate Instrumentation & Controls engineer, wishing to take up a position in a high-tech working environment. 

The Facilities Engineering Department are responsible for a broad variety of engineering systems, utilities plant and building services, which are essential to cleanroom manufacturing environment.  Graduate I&C engineering applicants should have exposure and awareness of PLC/Microcontrollers and software systems and be keen to explore new technologies (IOT, Wireless, A.I) which can improve operational controls, efficiency, and energy usage of facilities systems.

 

About the role – you will:

 

  • Identify Weakness/Areas of Improvement in current Control Systems to improve Operational Efficiencies – Provide and Implement solutions to reduce unplanned interruptions. 
  • Develop innovative solutions using hardware/software automation to assist engineering staff to monitor, operate and maintain critical plant. Create Live Reporting Dashboards (Using R or PowerBI) show Key Process Information and Insights (KPIs)
  • Develop integration solutions for new and existing systems such as energy management system into our site BMS systems using (Modbus/Bacnet/RestAPIs).
  • Improve graphical Front end of BMS to ensure better user experience and reduce response delays to Alarms.
  • Guide technicians and assist when needed in troubleshooting and fault find issues.
  • Responsible for Implementation & Scheduling of Maintenance/Calibration of online instrumentation for Utilities Systems
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of relevant asset maintenance procedures applicable to Building Management System. (200+ Controllers and Control Panels)
  • Developing and agreeing service and support contracts scope, monitoring compliance, and managing variances.
  • Assist and Develop Scopes of Work/Panel Design for new BMS controls as part of larger Capital Projects – Spec, Design, Manage Budget, Install and Commissioning. 

About you: 

  • Recently graduated from, or in the final year with a relevant degree - Hons Degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or Related Engineering Degree.
  • Team player, comfortable working and liaising with people internal and external to Seagate.
  • Understanding of – PLCs, Microcontrollers, Motor Control Panels, VSD’s
  • Understanding of Software Systems & Databases.
  • Keen to explore New Technologies and innovative solutions. 
  • Adaptable to changing situations and priorities.

 

Interview preference may be given to candidates with:

 

  • Experience with TREND BMS or Tridium Niagara Platform.
  • Experience in support of high-volume manufacturing or building services.
  • Experience in Energy Management systems such as Esight.
  • Experience of Artificial Intelligence or Data Analytics of continuous data sets.
