FTE: 1 FTE (Working 37 hours per week)

Duration of Contract: Permanent

Salary: UH5 £27,181pa to £30,487pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience.

Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year 

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield with flexible location working on campus and from home

 

The Careers and Employment Service is seeking a proactive candidate to join our team to support with creation and management of data, online learning materials, promotional resources, the running of communication channels, and service management systems (Abintegro and Handshake). We are a friendly, positive team focused on student outcomes and creating opportunities for all. 

 

Main duties and responsibilities

This role involves working as part of a front-line team, handling customer enquiries, promoting student and graduate engagement in employment opportunities, and providing high-quality service through various communication methods. 

 

The Careers Information Officer will be responsible for managing and supporting online learning platforms (Handshake, LinkedIn Learning), maintaining internal systems (UH CRM, vacancy boards), and contributing to marketing strategies. The role also includes monitoring activities, producing data reports, offering CV advice, coordinating Careers Registration, and collaborating on special projects while ensuring adherence to service standards.

 

Skills and experience required

 

The ideal candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively across various formats and audiences, have experience working with key stakeholders, responding promptly to customers and colleagues, and using online information resources. Front-line service and promotion experience are desirable.

 

Good IT skills, including proficiency in social media, MS Office, and databases, are essential, along with the ability to work calmly under pressure, meet deadlines, and conduct research. The candidate should demonstrate initiative, have the ability to learn new skills, and possess excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Networking skills and adherence to internal guidelines are desirable.

 

The role requires a methodical, detail-oriented approach, along with a friendly and approachable demeanour.

 

Qualifications required

Educated to a minimum of ‘A’ level standard or equivalent, or proven professional work experience
