Grade: JK-M 

Salary: From £35,745 up to £48,474 per annum pro rata

Hours: Full time 

Contract Type: Permanent 

Location: Flexibility over agreeing which one of our Council Offices locations the role is based from, with hybrid working opportunities and a requirement to cover the North Yorkshire area for hearings and meetings.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our ambitious and high performing legal team. Across the legal service we have over 60 lawyers supported by a dedicated practice manager and paralegal team.

Company, Corporate and Contracts & Commercial Lawyer/Solicitor

The commercial role will sit within the newly established Major Projects legal team which advises and supports a range of regeneration and economic development projects across North Yorkshire, as well as providing advice to the newly formed York and North Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.  The corporate/company role will also form part of the Major Projects legal team, focusing on providing legal support to the range of corporate delivery structures adopted by the council in its service provision.

Education (SEN), Employment, Litigation Lawyer/Solicitor - 

We are looking for a Education (SEN), Employment, Litigation Lawyer/Solicitor who can join our supportive team to provide legal support on a range of legal matters that relate to the Council.  We welcome applications from background in any of the above disciplines as training will be provided as required to ensure the successful candidate can cover all areas of practice.

 Commercial Contracts and Procurement Solicitor/Lawyer - 

As a Commercial Contracts and Procurement Lawyer/Solicitor, you will advise on procurements and drafting terms and conditions on a wide variety of commercial contracts. You may also advise on grants, subsidy control, company law and local authority trading. Support will be provided in any areas of the law where the candidate has not had the relevant experience.

Childrens Services Solicitor/Lawyer - 

The Children Team is part of the wider Legal and Democratic Services which is part of Central Services and provides legal advice and representation for our clients in the Children and Young People Services Directorate in relation to children matters. The position requires the ability to provide advice and representation in all children matters including care proceedings, pre proceedings matters and responding to specific procedural and legal queries. It is also essential that you are able to undertake research and provide advice in relation to more complex issues involving other operational matters.

Litigation and Debt Recovery Lawyer/ Solicitor - 

Litigation/Education/Employment team to provide a comprehensive legal service to the Council, Directorates, Committees and Members. A significant aspect of the role involves a diverse portfolio of Civil disputes ranging from simple debt recovery to complex construction disputes.  In addition, as this role sits within a wider team, there will be a requirement from time to time to offer advice in relation to Education and Employment Teams on litigious matters such as SEN Tribunals. The team also trade services internally and externally via First North Law and you will be required to support all aspects of this service which include a schools helpline and provision of advice to external clients. Training and support will be provided as required to ensure you can meet all needs of the service and First North Law.
