Location/Division Specific Information
Our PPD® Laboratory Services team has a direct impact on improving patient health through the expertise of scientists, industry thought-leaders and therapeutic experts. Discover Impactful Work:
Manages a small team within the deparment, including staff development and deploying solutions to meet business needs. Acts as a Project Manager for key studies and serves as a back-up for peer managers or to the leading Director when required. Advises on project management and operational solutions and identifies areas for process development and efficiencies in performing tasks. Liaises with major sponsor's operational personnel and manages all project related activities internally and with external vendors. Delivers technology solutions in a collaborative cross-functional environment.
A day in the Life:
- Manages staff, which may include interviewing and selection, job description preparation, professional development, goal setting, performance management,
- coaching and mentoring, employee counseling, and separations. Approves courses of action on salary administration, hiring, corrective action, and terminations. Reviews and approves time records, expense reports, requests for leave, and overtime.
- Plans and supports work flow of team members. Authors, reviews, revises and implements relevant procedural documents and SOPs in global alignment. Monitors SOP and key task compliance.
- Serves as chief liaison between sponsor and all internal departments performing the required tasks during the conduct of the study. Controls, manages and
- delegates day-to-day activities during the course of the clinical trial to resolve any issues and answer queries.
- Manages client and/or program level oversight and relationship to pro-actively address needs, expectations and modifications across similar studies.
- Supports business develpment by presenting in capability presentations and by supporting RFI activities
Keys to Success:
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
Experience
- Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2 to 5 years) or equivalent and relevant combination of education, training, & experience.
- 1+ year of leadership responsibility
- Experience within the Central Laboratory Project Management industry preferred
- In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

- Effective client relationship management skills
- Good supervisory and management skills with ability to work effectively at all levels
