Our Project Delivery colleagues within our PPD® clinical research services direct, coordinate and manage the technical and operational aspects of projects, securing the successful completion of clinical trials. This includes collaborating with functional area leads to identify and evaluate fundamental issues on the project and to ensure that solutions are implemented. Project Delivery is vital to helping our customers deliver life-changing therapies.
Through our global team, you may engage in diverse initiatives and projects, or be part of a virtual international project team gaining cross-cultural experience. Therapeutic scopes include: infectious and respiratory diseases, oncology/hematology, neurosciences, cardiovascular and metabolic, general medicine and vaccines.
Discover Impactful Work: We are seeking a Senior Director, Project Management in our Oversight Team (Infectious Diseases Therapy Area). This role is for the EMEA region and is remote-based.
A thorough understanding of the broad Infectious Disease landscape is required, and a PharmD, PhD, or MD is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee operational excellence, developing strategies to ensure high-quality deliverables and successful financial portfolio management.
- Provide drug development process, strategy, and planning consulting with BioPharma, Biotech, Government, and VC partnerships to optimally position Infectious Disease capabilities.
- Maintain an understanding of current and future infectious disease market trends that may impact business growth and operational delivery strategies.
- Serve as a senior leadership contact for clients, maintaining strategic relationships.
- Provide input to business development and drive business strategy focusing on innovation, operational efficiency, and global footprint expansion.
- Accountable for strategic indication or client-specific portfolio management within a Therapeutic Unit.
- Provide therapeutic expertise in project delivery execution, reacting quickly and appropriately to escalations.
- Drive overall strategy development for proposals and pre-proposal opportunities.
- Support and provide strategic direction within the infectious disease pillar, leveraging thorough knowledge of infectious disease product development.
A Day in the Life:
- Serve as a senior-level or executive contact, accountable for strategic indication or client-specific portfolio management within a Therapeutic Unit.
- Drive innovation in project execution, financial negotiations, and prioritization.
- Provide insight into proposal strategy in preparation for bid defense.
- Collaborate with the Therapeutic Unit Head in developing and implementing business growth strategies.
- Maintain awareness and engage as appropriate in the Con Mod process.
- Communicate with People Managers to support employee development, providing expertise and perspective related to client needs and therapeutic knowledge.
Keys to Success:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
- PharmD, PhD, or MD is strongly preferred.
- Broad understanding of the infectious disease landscape.
Experience:
- 15+ years of relevant experience.
- 7+ years of management responsibility.
- Advanced leadership skills.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Advanced understanding of global/regional/national regulatory requirements for clinical trials, licensing, and lifecycle management.
- In-depth understanding of regulatory specialty areas, such as preclinical, clinical, CMC, publishing, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, statistical concepts, and guidelines.
- Outstanding analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Expert financial acumen with practical application of budgeting, forecasting, and resource management.
- Accomplished executive presence and consultation skills.
- Superior critical and strategic thinking skills.
- Expert negotiation and marketing skills with the ability to drive results.
- Superior judgment, decision-making, escalation, and risk management skills.
- Proven ability to drive corporate strategies to capture, engage, and retain repeat customers.
