Wheelchair Therapist

We are looking for qualified Therapist with wheelchair services experience as part of our Equipment and Wheelchairs Service Team.

 

What will be expected from me?

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate therapist with Wheelchair experience to join our team. As a Wheelchair Therapist, you will play a crucial role in improving the quality of life for individuals with mobility challenges by providing customised wheelchair assessments, fittings, and training. You will work closely with patients, their families, and a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

 

What I might be doing?

 

  • Conduct assessment of service users of patient mobility and posture needs, including assessing their physical abilities, lifestyle requirements, and environmental factors.
  • Collaborate with service users, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to determine appropriate wheelchair and seating systems based on individual needs and goals.
  • Provide expert guidance in selecting and configuring manual or powered wheelchairs, cushions, and positioning accessories.
  • Ensure proper fitting and adjustment of wheelchairs, ensuring optimal comfort, posture, and pressure relief.
  • Train service users and their caregivers on safe and effective wheelchair use, including transfers, propelling techniques, and maintenance.

Essential requirements:

 

  • Graduate Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Member of appropriate professional body e.g. College of Occupational Therapists
  • Current Full UK Manual Driving License
  • Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety including risk assessments and visual risk assessments.
  • Previous experience of working as a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist providing a range of care
