Graduate Trainee Manager for Hanson UK

Description of Team / Department

Our graduate trainee manager programmes have been designed to attract, develop, and retain the graduates who will become our future leaders. During the programme you will get the chance to participate in wider company development activities and project delivery as well as commit time to your professional development in role. We will support you with a variety of training modules and one-to-one coaching from managers and mentors.

To put yourself in the best possible position to get the most from the programme, you will need to have enthusiasm for personal and professional development and the determination to succeed.

We will equip you with an in-depth understanding of our business and the leadership, technical and people skills you'll need as a future business leader. Real responsibilities, straight away from day one, you will be working alongside managers and employees in challenging and diverse roles that make a real contribution to our business outcomes.

Providing you with a long term career path, the graduate programme is only the first step in what could be a fulfilling career at Hanson; within the two or three years, you are likely to be one of our frontline leaders within one of our 300 sites across the UK.

Purpose of / Responsibilities of the role


•To gain as much experience as possible across Hanson UK, developing operational, commercial and leadership skills. 
•Development programme for future operational managers in any of Hanson's business lines, in one of our 300 sites 
•Support operational and Health& Safety teams to work towards our goal of ‘Zero Harm
•Embrace and develop continuous improvement across all areas, including efficiency, productivity, operational
and administrative processes
•Adopt to, and learn from, different management teams and business area
•Learn and adhere to company policies and procedures and apply these to daily task
•Develop excellent communication strategies within a highly diverse work environment

Key Areas of Development

General Management and Risk Management

Operations

Gain and develop knowledge of the key production areas (Aggregates, Asphalt, Concrete and Cement)

Organise day-to-day operations, with guidance from the management team, to ensure appropriate levels of staffing and materials

Ensure employees are adequately trained to carry out their duties 

Participate in regular management meetings to ensure smooth running of an operation or area

Sustainability including Health & Safety

Understand the appropriate internal and external regulations, guidelines and policies and how they apply across the business areas

Logistics and Customer Service

Technical and Quality Control

Leadership and Management




Skills / Experience

Degree educated. Preferably engineering lead -electrical, process, mechanical, chemical, STEM, business related, or geography Minimum 2:1

Full UK driving licence
