Graduate, Safety - National Grid Ventures
This is an exciting opportunity to join the National Grid Grain HSE team as a Safety Graduate!
When you join our 18-month Graduate Development Programme, you’ll be part of a team that works with all other teams at Grain LNG to ensure that this piece of Critical National Infrastructure continues to deliver 20% of the UK’s gas demand. Within this role you’ll be exposed to all aspects of safety and environmental compliance at Grain LNG which covers everything from Major Accident Hazards to ensuring a good Behavioural Safety culture preventing accidents that effect the individual, all whilst ensuring this is all achieved without harming the environment by assisting in the development and implementation of the terminal ‘s NetZero emissions.
You’ll also:
- develop/assist in development safety and environmental management systems to ensure compliance to COMAH and the site Environmental permit
- manage visiting contractors undertaking periodic maintenance and improvements to on-site safety and environmental equipment
- conduct data analysis of process operations, safety system demands site energy use and emissions
- attend and contribute to process safety hazard analysis studies including HAZOP, LOPA, Human Reliability Analysis, FMECA and others
- attend lean production meetings on site to facilitate reduction of waste in business processes, and develop and manage key performance indicators for KPI development
- support the terminal project teams delivering the CAP 25 expansion project with safety and environmental queries and terminal readiness tasks
- where assigned manage and close HAZOP, LOPA, and safety study actions
- field on site safety and environmental engineering queries
About You
You’re an excellent communicator, ensuring information is understood by all individuals within and outside the team and are able to tackle issues to give satisfactory resolution. You’ve got good Project Management skills including management of risk for delivery of projects to scope, time, cost.
You have a Understanding and experience of HAZARD analysis techniques such as HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA, an awareness of industry standards including, COMAH, ATEX, DSEAR, NAMUR, EMMUA 191 & UKAS, and an awareness of Environmental Permits and of NetZero climate goal.
Having an understanding of gas processing plant and machinery with experience in the petrochemical industry is desirable.
You’ll have a minimum 2.2 degree in a Chemical or Process Engineering, or Environmental Science discipline. You’ll also have a valid full UK Driving Licence at least three months prior to start date
What You'll Get
You’ll get exposure to large scale industrial process operation and engineering including collaboration with different engineering and maintenance disciplines and will gain good understanding the importance of safety the business and of safety engineering early in design. This experience can be transferred around the business.
You’ll develop technical skills to solve safety and environmental engineering, design and operational problems, and own, manage and implement improvement projects developing project management and delivery skills.
We are proud to offer a starting salary of £30,278 (Bachelors) or £31,379 (Masters).
