Graduate, Finance - Electricity System Operator (ESO)

Joining our 18-month ESO Graduate Development Programme gives you the opportunity to develop your skills! The 18-month experience consists of three 6-month placements in varying ESO IT departments. Your first placement will consist of key activities as outlined below (but not limited to), and you will return to this role following two broadening 6-month rotations where your knowledge of IT at ESO will be expanded. 

  • Project financial processes within National Grid ESO IT, working closely with both the Portfolio and Programme Managers, and corporate finance teams 
  • Support and guide Project Managers and Solution Engineering Managers to ensure good financial management practices are adhered to 
  • Working with Portfolio Finance Lead, ensure guidance on committed (purchase orders) and transactional spend (budget transfers, central overheads recharge) are followed by projects 
  • Support and guide Project Forecasts, both within year and future financial years – provide overview of budgets and forecasts 
  • Work closely with the Business Consultants to determine the future pipeline of projects and the potential financial implications 
  • Support the team across all IT finance portfolio initiatives, including monthly and quarterly rolling forecasting and month-end processes, plus oversight of correct usage of finance guidance 

This role is based at Wokingham or Warwick with flexible, hybrid working. 

You’ll have a minimum 2.2 degree in a business related degree.  

Being organised, proactive, and commercial and customer focused, you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage relationships at all levels.
