Pacific Life Re Actuary Graduate Programme – London – Start Date September 2023
Competitive Salary plus excellent benefit

Who are we?
We are a global reinsurance company, working with clients in Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. We specialise in providing our clients with innovative products and services for Life, Critical Illness, Income Protection, and Longevity. We have support and backing from our parent company, Pacific Life, which has been around for over 150 years.

Underlying our philosophy is an intelligent approach to taking risks. By recruiting top quality staff and investing in the latest analytical technologies, we believe we are well placed to make those decisions.

What are we looking for?
We’re looking for talented, ambitious and hard-working graduates to join the team of Actuarial experts in our London office. We pride ourselves in thinking differently and so we want people who aren’t afraid to challenge the norm.

In order to succeed in our Graduate Programme, you will need to be numerate and have the ability to analyse and interpret data. You will need to be a collaborative team player and be able to write fluently in English. Good interpersonal skills will also stand you in good stead.

The minimum grade requirements to apply for our programme are an A grade in A-Level Maths or a Maths related subject and a 2:1(achieved or predicted) in a STEM degree.

What are we offering?
Should you be successful in your application, you will gain hands-on experience from a range of actuarial projects and teams, all of which will develop you into a well-rounded Actuary, with a broad understanding of our business and the services that we provide to our clients.

We have designed a rotations programme to give our graduates broad actuarial knowledge and you could spend time in a variety of different actuarial teams from Pricing, Valuation, Modelling and Research & Development. You'll be given stimulating, hands-on roles and have the opportunity to apply the skills you develop across a broad range of projects.

Supporting Employees Post Pandemic

Throughout COVID, we invested in providing a high level of support for our employees, winning several awards for our internal pandemic response. This included providing suitable home-working equipment, additional holidays, flexible working options and regular “tea & talk” sessions, as well as weekly virtual yoga and fitness classes and regular virtual social activities.

As we move into a post-pandemic world, we want to continue to ensure everyone is looked after and supported. As such, we encourage our employees to work wherever is most appropriate for their day. Whether it’s at home or in the office, we have our Smarter Working guidelines policy to help everyone work more flexibly, whilst maintaining connections with colleagues and being able to collaborate effectively.

Pacific Life Re’s vision is to have a culture that embraces Diversity and Inclusion; where everyone’s views and ideas are valued and where everyone has the same opportunity to fulfil their potential. We strongly believe it’s not just about adding diversity and educating our employees to draw on our differences to change our business, it’s about how well we are listening to – and learning from – the diversity that we already have within the business. We foster open conversations and we are actively training our employees, helping us to unite, learn and grow.
