Specialist Project Engineer - XR

Scope of Role:

Specialist Project Engineer will lead a range of XR projects from Cradle to Launch, They will be responsible for proposal, planning and delivery of a variety of projects including but not limited to Software, Hardware and integration activities.

Location: Homebased with travel to HQ in Chorley when required
Salary: £40,000 – £60,000

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables: 

  • Development of Functional specifications
  • Design, develop, and maintain deliverables for projects, working from functional design specifications.
  • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and propose solutions.
  • Develop solutions by studying information needs, collaborating with others, and studying system flow, data usage and work processes.
  • Follow project appropriate development lifecycles.
  • Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
  • Develop product verification plans and quality assurance procedures.
  • Document and maintain software/Hardware functionality.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
  • Comply with project plans
  • Comply with industry standards.
  • Provide relevant expertise and support to various R&D projects.
  • Manage time and prioritise tasks to support overall project plans such that “on-time” delivery is achieved.
  • Maintain a “right-first-time” approach, ensuring that all designs and projects delivered to customers are of the highest possible standard.
  • Any other reasonable request made by a director or line manager.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Degree in mathematics, software, engineering or equivalent industrial experience
  • VR/AR/IOT experience a must
  • Experience working with different XR interfaces e.g. Oculus Quest, VIVE VR
  • Experience with specification and application of sensor technologies
  • Experience with condition monitoring or machines and systems
  • Understanding and experience of implementation of open and closed loop control systems is desirable
  • Familiarity with machine controls (preferably Siemens 840D)
  • Competent with MatLab or LabView
  • Industrial experience in programming in Python – Desirable
  • Industrial Experience in C/C++ with Visual Studio – Desirable
  • Experience in developing .NET applications in C#
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office packages (specifically Word and Excel)
