Graduate Building Physics Engineer

The Company:

We are a Building Physics energy consultancy based in Sheffield. We specialise in providing sustainable, low energy building solutions focused on the UK construction sector through dynamic simulation modelling.

We are growing quickly with ambitious growth plans and require a motivated and ambitious candidate to join our team.

Job Role:

As a Building Physics Engineer, you will become an expert in IES Virtual Environment software, building 3D models of new buildings, and performing various simulations such as renewable energy strategy, operational energy, thermal comfort, daylight, building regulations and more.

You will be working on new and existing building in many sectors, healthcare, office, education, residential, retail, manufacturing, with many interesting and challenging projects.

The role is highly specialised and as a graduate you will undertake on the job training for 12+ months, with fast progression for the right candidate.

The Candidates:

We are looking for two motivated graduates who are looking to embark on a career in the built environment. We require individuals who can work on their own initiative but also have the ability to work along with others as part of a team.

The role includes a mixture of building services, engineering, construction, architecture and maths, so ideally you will have an interest in those areas.

Essential:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (building services, mechanical, energy, environmental or similar) or demonstrable equivalent.

Achieved or targeting a 2:1 or above.

Desirable:

This role includes full training, but any other the following would help:
  • An understanding in the field of sustainable building design, such as energy modelling, low energy design, renewable energy.
  • Familiarity with the IES Virtual Environment.
  • Experience with using building simulation software or related software tools (e.g. CAD, energy and loads analysis, daylight modelling, solar analysis, HVAC design tools).
  • Good understanding of architectural drawings.
