GBP 6561 Graduate Digital Learning Developer

Job Summary
 
The University of Exeter is seeking Graduate Digital Learning Developers in the Faculty of Environment, Sciences and the Economy and Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. This Enhance Project role is to support the translation of existing face to face and blended learning course content into the online learning environment.
 
This role is part of the Graduate Business Partnership (GBP) Scheme and offers flexible/remote working for graduates based in the UK. This full-time role is available on a fixed-term contract for 23 months. Flexible working arrangements to be discussed at interview. This role can be carried out remotely and there may be occasions when you will be asked to work on site at either Exeter or Penryn campuses.

Main Purpose of the Role
As a Graduate Digital Learning Developer, you will play an important role in enabling the university to continue to deliver high quality teaching, resources and support to its students, during these unique times. 

Working in College-focused teams alongside Senior Digital Learning Developers and members of the Technology Enhanced Learning and Academic Development teams, you will help the university to translate existing face to face, as well as blended learning course content into the online learning environment. You will also support the user research process and the further development, as well as quality assurance of these online materials, based on feedback.  
This role involves collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders from a range of disciplines, including academic and professional services colleagues, to promote the opportunities of the online learning environment through a comprehensive programme of training. You will support the use of features and functionality within a range of Learning Technologies, as well as share best practice.

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Support the transition of programmes into blended formats, for example, through adding material into ELE templates, sourcing materials, translating existing or new teaching into online resources, editing transcripts
  • Undertake quality review of modules and improvement of existing blended formats on request.
  • Act as a first point of call for all queries from academics and resolve basic requests relating to blended or online delivery
  • Seek solutions to blended / online delivery requests from academic staff through utilising available resources and contacts
  • Prepare online resources and guidance documents
  • Support the development of academic digital expertise, including creating guidance and direct support for use of new digital tools used in teaching
  • Capture and share examples of best practice
  • Contribute to improvement of existing blended formats and provide feedback
  • Involvement with student engagement projects (e.g. analysing survey feedback, running student digital training, developing ELE pages)
  • Support the development and piloting of new teaching approaches and systems
  • Complete any training as required by your Line Management
  • Provide other general assistance within the faculty as appropriate to the grade and as required.

About the TEL Team

The Technology Enhanced Learning team support staff in the innovative use of digital technologies and resources, for teaching, learning and assessment. The team comprises of Education Technologists, Education Advisors and Graduate Digital Learning Developers (DLDs) who assist with the design and development of pedagogically driven learning materials and activities.

Exploring the use of digital technologies gives educators the opportunity to design engaging learning opportunities in the modules and programmes they teach, whether blended or fully online. We always try to think about the learning first and the tool to help with that second. We want to ensure that each piece of technology used is a good fit for the pedagogical goal to align with the needs of teachers and learners with the affordances of digital technologies. Throughout our work, the core aim is always to enhance the student experience.

Graduate Business Partnership (GBP) Scheme Requirements 
 
  • To undertake a graduate role through the GBP scheme, you must have either achieved your degree or be in your final year at any UK-based university.  
  •  If you are in your final year, your working hours may be reduced to 15 hours per week (for undergraduates) or 6 hours per week (for postgraduates) to ensure you have the capacity to successfully complete your degree. More hours can be completed if your academic agrees and provides written confirmation. 
  • If you do not pass your degree, the GBP role will end early. 
  • You must have graduated in the UK within the last 3 years of your most recent degree (we will consider extenuating circumstances of potential applicants that may have prevented them from undertaking a graduate role within 3 years of graduation).
