Administrator (Apprentice)

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate looking to start a career in business administration at the University of Hertfordshire, working within Hertfordshire Law School (HLS). You will join a busy and innovative team and gain a range of experience in different aspects of administration and business. You will be released to study for a Level 3 Diploma in Business and Administration, studying with an apprenticeship training provider and will appointed a work-based mentor. You will learn the fundamentals of business including understanding organisational vision, communication in a business environment and working with stakeholders.
 
Main duties & responsibilities
You will be involved in all administrative aspects of the busy School Business Team. This includes:
 
·        To support the School Business Manager in the effective administration of HLS.
  • To provide a high standard of customer service, dealing effectively with all staff and school queries on the telephone, via email and face to face.
  • You will maintain and update relevant databases and to produce reports as required, working to multiple deadlines.
  • You will oversee shared spaces within HLS and the Law Court building, co-ordinating with relevant departments, including Procurement, Estates and Library and Computing Services to monitor IT, and office furniture requirements within HLS.
  • You will assist with the maintenance of Health and Safety standards within the school and work effectively with team members and the wider Hertfordshire Law School Team.
 
Skills and experience needed:
We are looking for an individual who is well organised, shows attention to detail, and has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will use your IT skills, including the use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. We are looking for a team player who can demonstrate a good understanding of customer care and has proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner so that deadlines are met.
 
Qualifications required:
You will hold at least five GCSEs at Grade C/Grade 4 or above including Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications.
 
What kind of training will you receive?
This is typically an 18-month apprenticeship programme where the successful applicant will undertake the Business Administration level 3 apprenticeship where a min of 6 hours per week is dedicated to off-the-job-learning to enable the successful applicant to complete the required training activities within the workplace. This is supported by a workplace mentor and direct line manager.
 
In order to meet the eligibility criteria you must not previously have undertaken any training which would duplicate the training or assessment you will receive under this apprenticeship, for example: A level Business Studies.
 
 
‘The successful candidate must, by the start of their employment, have permission to work in the UK’. 
The University is required to meet UKVI visa regulations and we are not able to sponsor for this position. Applicants who do not currently have the right to work in the UK will have to satisfy UKVI regulations before they can be appointed. You must have been a UK/EEA resident for the last 3 years to qualify for this apprenticeship.
