[TL013c] Junior Project Manager

ThinkingLinking is looking for a Junior Project Manager to join a small, fast-paced and disciplined strategic consulting team in the City of London.

We welcome applicants with precise minds and clear communication since we use logic, strategic planning and advanced communication skills when working with our team internally as well as working with clients. We are open to university graduates if the person has project management skills.

About ThinkingLinking

ThinkingLinking is a boutique strategy-focused M&A consulting firm with a ‘Strategy before Finance’ methodology. Unlike other small firms that specialise in one sector, ThinkingLinking works across several sectors, using proprietary methodologies to identify opportunities and guide the dealmaking process. We add strategy and psychology to the traditional finance dimension of M&A, in effect blending two industries – strategic consulting and M&A.

What can be learnt at ThinkingLinking

“Learn from experts”

At ThinkingLinking, there is no limit to a person's career progression if they have skills and determination to match it. We have one of the most hands-on training environments of any small firm in the format of an apprenticeship, and are dedicated to helping members of our team grow.

We are a rare firm not only in our methodologies but also in the opportunities we offer to train you. By joining our company, you can learn from us on specific logical thinking skills. As you develop, you can have daily working contact with our CEO.

About the Role

The role involves managing our M&A Match Programme, including teasing companies and signing simple agreements without Zoom calls. The person will follow specific procedures to introduce us and then hand over to another person for a Zoom call.

Although adherence to particular procedures is essential, this role is not a clerical position. It demands a certain level of business acumen along with proficiency in commercial skills. The ideal candidate must be highly organised with strong sales skills, possess good judgment in dealing with people, and know when to seek internal assistance. Success in this role depends on optimising sign-up ratios and achieving high KPIs. We do not require candidates to have an extensive understanding about industry knowledge or finance.

As part of a small team, the candidate is expected to be independent and confident in handling a wide range of responsibilities towards achieving agreed goals. We are looking for a quick learner, strategic and creative thinker with versatile project management skills.

Your responsibilities will cover the full Match Programme process including project planning, scoping, matching and outreach.

Examples of day-to-day work include:

  • Participate in internal strategy meetings
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Follow precise procedures when engaging in teasing and subsequent follow-ups
  • Develop detailed project plans to monitor and track progress
  • Prepare notes on client or potential client agreements
  • Schedule regular project meetings/discussions
  • Report and escalate to management as needed

Responsibilities will be tailored somewhat based on the successful candidate’s knowledge and experience.
