Post Title: Senior Technical Officer (Automotive & Motorsport) 

SBU/Department: School of Physics, Engineering & Computer Science 

 

FTE: 1.0 FTE (working 37 hours per week)

Duration of Contract: Permanent

Salary: UH5 £27,181pa to £28,759pa with potential to progress to £30,487pa by annual increments

Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield 

 

Our renowned School of Physics Engineering & Computer Science is currently seeking a Senior Technical Officer with expertise in Automotive & Motorsport. This exciting opportunity has emerged to bolster our ongoing initiatives in delivering world-class education and pioneering research in the realm of automotive technology.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate a good understanding of motorsports design, a high standard of accuracy and be able to offer paramount technical expertise centered around automotive and motorsport technology.  Furthermore, you will ensure preparation and management of equipment tailored for specific classes and innovative projects. You will work with a range of stakeholders including the Principal Technical Officer, Estates and contractors as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students.

 

Skills and experience required

You will have hands-on experience in a laboratory/workshop setting, with proven experience within the automotive/motorsport sector.  Robust knowledge about current health and safety regulations linked to laboratory and workshop environments is essential in this role.  In addition, you will committed to supporting students with their work and demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and within a team.

 

Qualifications required
